Upcoming Practices
by posted 09/20/2020

All, Good first game this weekend! I'm proud of how hard our girls worked and how much fun they had. Beginning tomorrow night, we'll be working on Offense/Defense and doing a little more structured scrimmage drills. We aren't able to use practice jerseys this year due to COVID. To make it a bit easier, we'll have half the team wear light (ideally white) and half the team wear dark (ideally black or dark blue) to practice. Last names A - Le, please wear light/white to future practices. Last names Lo - Z, please wear dark/black/dark blue. Finally, if any of you are creative, we could use a team Mermaid Moon poster or banner (or a few!). Let me know if you can make one or just bring one to the next game!

Looking forward to seeing you soon for our game this afternoon! Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can do temperature checks, a quick warmup, and go over the rules. The girls selected the "Mermaid Moons" for our team name at practice (have to love their creativity!). Also, a reminder that all spectators are required to wear masks and the girls need to wear masks while sitting on the sidelines. See you soon!

Welcome - Key Team and Schedule Information
by posted 09/12/2020

Welcome Team 4 Kindergarten Girls! My name is Matt Benchener (Coach Matt) and I'm excited to coach our team this year. We have two main goals for the season: Learn and practice the fundamentals of soccer; and have fun. We have 11 girls on the team, but currently no assistant coaches. It would be a big help to have 2-3 assistant coaches that can attend most games and practices. Please email ( or text (215-499-0464) if you are willing and able to help. More helping hands always makes the experience better for the players, but is especially important this year due to COVID. No soccer experience is necessary -- you just need to be willing to have fun and patiently help our girls learn the game!

We are scheduled for 7 practices, which will be each Monday from September 14 - October 26 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. We're also scheduled for 10 games, which will be every Saturday from 9/19 - 11/21. Games are all in the afternoon, with start times ranging from 1 pm to 4 pm. Games are scheduled for an hour, but will generally be shorter. Play format is 4 on 4 with two ten minute halves and a break in between halves. All games and practices will be at D'Ambrosia Park. I encourage you to review the following pdf with your daughters. It will help them have a better understanding of what to expect regarding league rules: Also, you can see our schedule, roster, and other key information through the league website: You can find our team information by clicking "Teams" and navigating to Kindergarten Girls - Team 4. The website is the best place to find the latest information on practices and games.

This year is going to be a bit different due to COVID-19. Safety is of the utmost importance. I'll be doing player temperature checks before each practice and game. Please ensure the girls arrive 10 minutes ahead of each game and practice. Players with an elevated temperature will need to be taken home by parents or guardians immediately. We have 11 girls on our team, and since the format is 4v4, we will have a handful of girls on the sidelines at all times during games. Here, we will try to keep them roughly 6 feet apart by marking out spaces for them and their equipment. It will be important for parents and guardians to help enforce distancing on the sidelines, especially at this age! Please see below for additional key points on COVID protocols from the league. Please also familiarize yourself with the pdf that provides additional details.

  • All spectators and coaches must wear a mask at all times
  • Players on the sidelines must wear a mask and sit apart from each other
  • Parents will decide if they want their child to wear a mask while on the field in a game
  • No sharing of water, snacks or equipment
  • No player or coach can attend if they are feeling sick

See you on Monday for our first practice! We'll distribute uniforms then. Girls should have their own cleats and shin guards.
